We stand up for the farmers!

“It is time for the Brussels leadership to stop pushing extremist ideologies and put the welfare and security of the European people first! Change is needed in Brussels!” said Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi in a debate on European agriculture in the European Parliament on Wednesday morning.

MEP Balázs Hidvéghi said that the current leadership in Brussels is on the wrong track. “Whether it is the war in Ukraine, migration, or agricultural policy, it is clear that Brussels is driven by extremist ideologies and is incapable of acting in the European interest”, he said.

He stressed that Brussels’ ill-considered green policies were destroying European farmers. “Brussels allows cheap Ukrainian grain to flood the European market and concludes agreements that – ad absurdum – put farmers outside Europe in a better position than European farmers”, MEP Hidvéghi pointed out.

According to the Fidesz MEP, while Brussels is making wrong, ideologically driven decisions, other countries in the world — the USA or China — are introducing blatantly protectionist measures and rapidly leaving Europe behind in the global race. “It is time for the leadership in Brussels to finally represent the interests of the European people! Change is needed in Brussels”, concluded the MEP.
